Legal Assistant

Drummond Woodsum is seeking a legal assistant to join its litigation group in our Portland office. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and positive attitude, be tech-savvy, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and dynamic workplace. 

Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting attorneys in our litigation practice group
  • Preparation of legal documents, including pleadings, correspondence, and discovery material
  • Preparing for hearings, trials, client meetings, and depositions
  • Provide administrative support to timekeepers such as processing incoming and outgoing mail, screening phone calls, scheduling couriers, and greeting clients in a professional and courteous manner
  • Draft legal documents and correspondence for attorney review

  • Be accurate, detail-oriented, and have strong attention to detail
  • Take initiative and be proactive
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills; excellent spelling punctuation and grammar/general proofreading ability
  • System proficiency: general knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and PDF processing

Real Estate Paralegal
Portland, Maine

Drummond Woodsum is seeking a full time Real Estate Paralegal.  The ideal candidate will be experienced in all phases of real estate transactions including title examinations; preparation of title insurance commitments and policies; drafting deeds and other real estate documents.  Other work will include assisting attorneys with real estate transactions including:  drafting, organizing and preparing documents; coordinating loan closings; funding and disbursement; drafting settlement statements; assisting with closings; coordinating post-closing follow-up including recording documents, organizing and indexing files; and overseeing preparation of closing document binders.
